Pete Kyrie Band (PKB)

What do you get when you throw a touch of Jimi Hendrix, John Mayer, Matchbox 20, Stone Temple Pilots and Soundgarden into a blender? You get a heavy riff rocking, groove-oriented band with hard bluesy guitars, raw scratchy vocals, thunderous drums and bass. You get music that is a perfect combination of melodic songs, with an edgy vibe and just enough sweet love mixed with teenage angst that comes together to sound both familiar and new at the same time.

The Pete Kyrie Band or PKB as they are often referred as, is a hard-hitting bluesy Canadian rock band formed by singer/songwriter/guitarist Pete Kyrie after his post-grunge and hard rock band Sins of Omission came off the road from years of touring and then eventually ended their hard rock reign. They stay true to the big guitar sound with lots of blues influence and catchy melodic choruses.

Pete Kyrie started playing guitar at 10 years old after his mom bought him a fake Les Paul electric guitar, well technically he started at 7 with a big ol’ acoustic guitar but hated playing Yankee Doodle all the time so gave it up until he got the electric and an amp to make the right noise.

Throughout the years, the Toronto born, but splits his time between Toronto, Nashville and LA, Pete Kyrie has shared the stage as well as played with and for several well known and unknown talented artists such as Three Inch, After Disco Died, Collective Soul, Wide Mouth Mason, Teagan and Sara, Seven Mary Three, The Four Horsemen, Sandbox, Big Sugar, Big Wreck, My Darkest Days, and I Mother Earth.

After a couple incarnations, the PKB have finally found their way with the latest and greatest additions of Mike Small (Meligrove Band, By Divine Right, The Waking Eyes, Loviet) on Bass/Vocals and Phil Veiga on Drums/Vocals.

Mike Small brings with him some heavy international touring experience in the 2000’s as a member of both the Meligrove Band and By Divine Right and briefly touring as bass player for The Waking Eyes. He has recorded with several bands such as Overnight, Bankruptcy, Elliott Brood and MAX as well as played live for Rich Aucoin, Kellie Loder, Thomas D’Arcy and Loviet.

Phil Veiga Hailing from Brazil, Phil embarked on his musical journey at the age of 14, touring with blues bands. His distinctive playing style seamlessly blends the groove of John Bohman with the swing of a big band jazz. Phil's musical journey has taken him from his hometown band, Little Rock, to tours with renowned groups like Big River Blues and Bad Blues, both based in Toronto.

Together this experienced and skilled band commands the stage and captivates the crowed with their fun and energetic live show full of killer riffs, groovy beats and sing along choruses.

Be sure to catch them live when you can, you won’t be disappointed.
